Charlie

Charlie is a handsome red merle with white.  He is quite distinct looking!  Can’t miss this guy in a crowd.  He has a dark red nose, amber eyes, and an extra pink mouth and gum line.  Shoot, even his paws are a deep burgundy – no kidding.

Charlie knows his basic commands, he is fairly decent about walking on a leash, and is well mannered in the home.  He is housetrained, does not beg at the table and sleeps on the floor at night.

Charlie does not do puppies – he abhors it when they jump up on himcharlie5b_oct_22_2010 and goes to great lengths to get away from them, but he does not bark, snarl, growl or nip at them.  He is fine with dogs who have social manners – unlike the puppies who really can be little hellions on four paws!
Charlie is an easy going, level tempered dog.  But, darn those buts anyway, but, he does have some separation anxiety.  It is not horrible – he does not go through windows or tear up furniture.  He charlie6a_oct_22_2010 does though pace some and if left in a cage will chew up whatever is in it.  We have left him in our family room and he has not damage anything – he does once in awhile torment the cats by barking at them.

Charlie does best if not left alone for more than four hours.  He can also go over some fences and is quite clever about pushing a dog house, etc. close to the fence so he can use it as a jumping board.  Dumb this dog is not!  Once he charlie_oct_22_2010knows where he belongs that jumping comes to a stop – took about three days here in his foster home.

Having a second dog for a dog with separation anxiety does not help … there are other things that can be done and they work well with Charlie.  He has a mild case and it may actually go away once he is settled into his new home.

Charlie would be fantastic for someone looking for a companion dog!  He has done well with children 8 years of age and up.
