Michigan is glorious in the autumn. Colors of orange, red, purple, green, and yellow abound.
This day the sky was a baby blue with no clouds in sight. The tops of the trees glowed against the blue sky. The sun was bright and yellow.
October 10th, 2010 and it was a warm day! High 80’s and that is unusual.
A frost has come and gone. We are now cleaning out the garden so the puppies have enjoyed running around finding cucumbers and melons that we didn’t find. Why do they enjoy those? Strange puppies! I managed to snag that last tomato just as the pups were ready to pounce on it. We still have broccoli plants but those plants hold firm against the pups playful bouts in the garden. It is funny to watch the pups snag a weed I’ve pulled up. And they toss it about and fuss with each other over it until they think to look my way and oops, there is another weed being plucked from the ground! They make the job take a bit longer but their entertainment value is worth it!
The pups love to go for walks in the woods: they race and tumble, they find sticks and run away with them, they play tug with sticks and they jump up on my legs. We have some benches here and there on the trails and Gunney and P-Nut love to jump up on them as if they were the Walk from the agility course! I think Gunney does it because it’s natural for him to do this: he is so Border Collie. But P-Nut, she does it because, well, it’s easy for her and she loves to be above the others and then tease them! P-Nut is hilarious. She is so agile and clever and endearing. Nice thing about her coat is that the burs don’t stick. Her half siblings: Petey and Patty are not so lucky.
Here is Petey chewing a leaf. Silly puppy. He is actually in an old orange metal boat which sits just in the woods and is full of these plants. I planted them there, but I can’t recall at the moment what they are. The pups love to jump into the boat – pretending to be on the high seas I suppose. Petey is not eating the leaf – he is just playing and I snapped the photo at just the right moment. It’s a cute photo.
Patty, Petey and P-Nut are super active puppies who enjoy nothing more than a romp in the woods. They are curious and playful. Gurney is recovering from kennel cough this day and he likes to run too but not as much, plus he is two months younger. He is the youngest puppy of this crew and very much a baby.
Huck is a nice contrast to all the oranges! A white lab male puppy, he is as sweet as can be. He loves to race the other puppies up and down the path .. usually with my dog, LIbby in the lead.
The Run Down of the puppies:
P-Nut, Petey and Patty and Polly – half siblings:
Journey and Jordan – sister and brother
Huck – one and only
Gunney – one and only
Gurney – one and only
After our walk we rested.
I was in the wooden swing. And here are Gunney and Gurney resting in front of the storage shed where the agility stuff has just been packed away.
What is eerie about this photo is that it reminded me of when our Suka and Zues would lie side by side like this for entire afternoons!
So, there you have it.
All these puppies are in our foster program and all are available for adoption.
