Sherbet

Blond and white Chihuahua
Weighs in at ten pounds

Date of Birth: September 7, 2009

Spayed, up to date on shots

Great with everything

Housetrained

Sherbet is a lovely pup.  She would be a great Pet Therapy dog!  She loves people, is very social and will hop up into laps.  This girl knows no strangers.
She is active!  Runs and plays and races about.  Shesherbet_may_9_2010 is also sturdy.

Sherbet has been in a foster home with a lot of dogs, a foster home with a couple dogs and a child and then on a home visit with an elderly person.  She was just too active for an elderly person.  But she is great with the child who is about nine years old.  This girl would be nice for a young person who wants to engage in dog obedience and compete in 4-H or UKC agility, or Rally or Dancerise – the sky is the limit!
She would also be great for someone who would like a smaller dog to take to visit nursing homes, or children’s hospitals to cheer up the patients.  sherbet_lucy_may_9_2010One could teach her cute tricks and put a sweet costume on her.  How much fun would that be!

Here is Sherbet with Carmela Lucy

The two of them shared a foster home for awhile.

FOSTER A DOG
We are currently in need of foster homes.  The animals in our program come from local shelters.  I know, hard to believe these gorgeous, wonderful little gals came from an animal shelter!  But there you have it.

If you are interested in fostering a dog contact us at petsconnect@petsconnect.org.

rescue_chihuahua_poster Her Story:  Sherbet and her brother were an owner surrenders to a local shelter.  Sherbet was such a nice little girl that she was adopted out, but then they returned her because she was ill.  She was in heat and had an Upper Respiratory Infection.   Sometimes getting dogs from the shelter to the foster home can be a bit tricky.  In Sherbet’s case, a volunteer and her cousin made the drive!  Here is Sherbet in their car right after they pulled up.  Sherbet had rode on the lap of her cousin but then hopped to the driver’s lap after they stopped in the driveway.

Here are more photos of Sherbet’s arrival.

Here is Sherbet with tiny Buttercup.  Buttercup and Mighty Mouse were adopted by the same family.  Sherbet is in the green sweater – it was a cool day.

Sherbet really enjoyed hanging out with the other small Chihuahua’s  — all have been adopted or are in another foster home .. like Paco.  Paco is a neat chichi about Sherbet’s size and he is in another foster home.

While I had all those little chichi’s they participated in our Daylight program.  They all went to the state youth prison and hung out with the big guys.  We all had a great time.  Click here sherbert_mighty_mouse4_april_21_2010ato learn more about that experience.

Here Sherbet is moving in on Mighty Mouse’s territory!
She has great social skills.  See how she has her head down?

It is as if she is requesting permission.

A moment later they were curled up together.
