POODAH

When my children were younger a neighbor fondly called her last child Poodah.  It was a child who had come after many, a child welcomed into the world by a mom already a bit weary.  He was a cute little guy.  While searching name data bases for a name for our little guy, I came across the name Poodah and hundreds of wonderful memories flooded back.  Thus, this little guy became Poodah!

And our little Poodah has a similar story.  He landed in the shelter with a bunch of littermates: most of them actually didn’t look like Pit bull mixes at all, but this guy certainly does!  The shelter could not put him in adoption but they could put the siblings in adoption and then looked at us and said, can you take this one?  Obviously we did.  But please note, that as a rule we do not have Pit Bulls in our program.  pit_beagle_march_10_2010The animals in our program are in foster homes and there are so many rules regarding pit bulls that we can not possibly deal with them.   There are rescues who deal just with Pit Bulls and they are very good at what they do.

They play and sleep and eat together.
Poodah is a laid back puppy, with a lower energy level.  He does like to wander around checking things out and sometimes, more often pit5_march_10_2010than not, he has ‘exclusive’ hearing.  That would be when he can not hear “mom Calling Him!
Poodah is almost housetrained to go outside: he is paper trained.  He is on Iams puppy food and eats twice or three times a day.
Poodah would do best with a person or couple who are familiar with this breed, and someone who will continue to work with him because he can be timid sometimes.  He is a sweet natured pup who wears his feelings on his sleeve so his feelings are hurt easily.
He does enjoy lap time and cuddling.  He is an intent observer of what goes around him.  He will share his toys and rawhides.

Making a Difference

PetsConnect! is an all volunteer not-for-profit organization moving into out Tenth Year!
All the animals are in foster homes and well cared for, we pay our bills, make our thank yous and our volunteers work very hard to run PetsConnect! as a professional, caring, friendly business!
The animals in our program come from local animal shelters and to the employees and volunteers of our local animal shelters we are most grateful and thankful for the hard, emotionally taxing work they engage in daily.
