It was such a beautiful day that I felt compelled to stop and buy a BIG ball for the kids to play with.  Cricket gave me the idea because she likes to kick around a basketball like she’s a soccer player.  When she’s done playing, she buries her treasured basketball so no one else can find it (this also means I had to buy another basketball and hide that one for myself)!  I figured if I got a HUGE ball she wouldn’t be able to bury it so easily and everyone could play with it!

The big red ball was a hit and everyone enjoyed running after it!  The little ones, Rini and Raini, loved hitting the ball with their little paws and chasing after it.  They were especially amused when I would kick the ball back and forth against the fence – they were doing sprints chasing it back and forth!  I was impressed with how long they would last before taking a break!

Not only was everyone enjoying the big red ball, but they were enjoying each other and the straw.  There was lots of wrestling and lots of chasing each other all over the yard!

I also had an audience when I was shooting hoops.  They all sat around watching me and waiting for that ball to get away from me just far enough so they could go after it!  Unfortunately for them, they weren’t getting my new basketball! 

One of the great joys of fostering is seeing everyone outside happily playing on a beautiful day!  Nothing makes your heart fill faster than to see everyone having fun and knowing that if it weren’t for fostering, they would be cooped up in a cage in a shelter somewhere.
