A handsome beagle mix, Willy Wonka is about a good as it gets!

He probably gets his coloring from the beagle as he is tan and gray and white and nicely marked.

But then he has longer legs and frizzy hair giving him an exotic look.  That would be the terrier.

Wonka is four years old, neutered male, extremely well behaved and great with other animals.
Of course, he is housetrained.  We don’t know if he is crate trained because we have not put him in one since he has been so good.
Willy Wonka has been great with the dogs and cats.  He should be fine with older children but not sure about infants and toddlers.  He will need to be leash walked or in a fence.  We have not tried him off leash because he is a beagle mix and they are famous for following their nose.wonka4_dec_28_2009

Wonka’s Own Story:  Perhaps he could make up his own verse in the Oompa Loompa song about what happens to dog owners who give up their dogs for reasons that do not make sense?  We live in a society that simply discards, tosses, throws away what we no longer want.  We are getting better, the recession has forced or taught us to pull in the reins, but still, so many dogs and cats end in local animal shelters because owners simply grow bored and don’t want the care of a pet anymore.  And that is the reason Wonka ended up in a shelter.
I saw him in the shelter and instantly thought he was the cutest dog in there!  This may be because he looks just a bit like my own dog: the coloring anyway.  He also looked so forlorn.

Bringing him home was easy.  He rode in the passenger seat.  We got out, he went potty and then inside he greeted the other dogs and cats and people and ate and drink and then went up to my bedroom, hoped on my bed and made himself right at home!  The word guest is not in Wonka’s vocabulary!
And he has been that easy ever since.
