Skyra is an eight month old Australian Shepherd and Siberian Husky mix or at least that is what we were told.
I would go with Sheltie and shepherd myself.
No matter the mix, what we have is a smart, delightful, joyful herding dog who has learned that nipping gets other living things to move.
In fact, she was surrendered due to that nipping when herding the children. We were told though that the children were not well disciplined so perhaps Skyra felt the need to intervene? At any rate, let’s just say, no small children in the house that she lives in.
Actually, a bit of experience with herding breeds would be a bonus when adopting this pup!
Because if you understand the behavior and why they do it, then you can work with it as a training issue.
Skyra has improved dramatically with other dogs since entering her foster home. And now that she is no longer in heat and has been spayed, we are able to increase the dogs she can be introduced too. She does really well with other dogs after the initial meet and greet – it goes even faster with some dogs that disregard her nippy self.
Skyra is a gorgeous, fun pup and will be a joy to train.
She is eager to please, a quick study and a perfect size.
Skyra is available for adoption. If you are interested, please fill out an application and email it to us as an attachment. Click here for adoption application
