Ready to be adopted
Labrador Retriever primarily
Date of Birth: July 2013
Good with dogs
The dogs in our program come from local animal shelters.
Volunteers visit the shelters either when we have space or upon request and we feel we have space for more dogs and we bring to our homes dogs that we can work with.
I’ll be honest, when we were called to come look at labs I was surprised.
We just don’t see labs much anymore.
But there they were! Murphy, Jackson and Reuben!
Murphy has been adopted.
Anyway, back to Jackson. This boy has a gorgeous head with a sweet as honey look about him. I doubt he is a pure bred lab but he is close. He is sweet, easy going and gentle.
He is really good with other dogs.
He was super curious about the cat carriers and smelled and sniffed at them so I don’t know if he is good with cats or not. He has left the one cat alone but he can reach her so I’m not sure if there were a loose cat in his vicinity what he would do.
I would suspect he is fine with children and would be a nice family pet.
He is eager to learn, likes to chase balls and would be a good candidate for some basic obedience training.
He is good in his crate but will still chew out the stuffing in bedding. I do not think he was crate trained when he first came so it’s been some work but he now goes right into his crate and is happy. He barked a lot when in his crate but doesn’t do that anymore. He may bark some in his new home, hopefully not.
He appears to be house trained and has done well but no guarantees. I would recommend lots of crate training the first couple weeks with trips outside to get him on a schedule and take it from there.
You can’t beat his temperament! Sweet, not much bothers him. Easy to motivate.
Jackson is available for adoption. If you are interested, please fill out an application and email it to us as an attachment.
