My grandson is holding Trixie and his twin sister is holding Alex. This photo was taken minutes after we walked out of the animal shelter with these two precious Chihuahua’s. When we went to pick them up early one Sunday morning we didn’t know if the two chicih’s would be good with other dogs, or cats or children. We didn’t know if they were healthy, heart worm negative, had fleas or much of anything else. We just knew they needed to come to rescue so we went and picked them up!
PetsConnect! was founded in 2001 by five individuals with the goal of lessening the burden of so many animals in our local animal shelters. We go to local animal shelters and pick up dogs that can be in our foster homes. We do not take all easy, cute, young dogs. We have taken many dogs with questionable temperaments, dogs and cats and birds in need of expensive and sometimes urgent medical care and we also get awesome little dogs like Trixie and Alex!
Did you know that close to 98% of the animals that have gone through our program have come from animal shelters? It’s true. While we do take some animals from the public and will take domestic birds from the public, our foster homes are primarily for animals that come from local animal shelters. We pull an average of 500 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens and birds each year!
Because we want to help more animals, we are embarking on a campaign to grow our foster home network. Our hope is to increase the number of kittens and dogs that can leave the shelter and come into our foster home network.
Watch our facebook ( /PetsConnectInc/) as our campaign unfolds and please share on your facebook!
Did you know fostering is free? PetsConnect! pays for all expenses for your foster animal including medical care, food, and toys. #volunteer #whyfoster
As it turns out Trixie and Alex are both healthy, free of heart worms, now spayed, caught up on their shots, great with children, dogs and
cats and ready to be adopted! Our grandchildren enjoyed these two dogs so much during their visit which included not just traveling to the shelter, but to the vet and playing with them in the back yard and inside and even engaging in Pet Therapy to bring joy to residents in facilities in our community!
Both Trixie and Alex are available for adoption.
If you are interested, please fill out an application and email it to us as an attachment.
