Can you see in the photo how Paddy holds up that rear leg? As it turns out his knee is destroyed AND x-rays reveal that his hip is not in it’s socket. Ouch. Our vet believes this is a result of a serious trauma in which medical attention was not sought and that it happened awhile ago – long enough ago that repair is out of the question.
We are still in the discovery stage but it would appear that his best option will be remove the leg and then he will be a three-legged dog. As soon as we know what the expected cost is we will start fundraising. Meanwhile, Paddy will is on steroids and doing fine.
If you would like to make a donation towards his upcoming surgery, by all means!
Send a check to PetsConnect, PO Box 8104, South Bend, IN 46660-8104
And if you are one of those who like to pay the vet directly – the check can go to Kryder Veterinary Clinic but make sure to note what it is for.
If you have a vet who would do the surgery and you are willing to cover the cost, please let us know and we would be happy to talk to you about that option as well! This is how Hobbes, a dog we had years ago, had his hip repaired.
