Morgan is a big puppy!
At just about three months of age, this boy already weighs in at 33 pounds and growing.
We are not sure how big he will get but we do know he will be big.
We are guessing he is an Akita and Labrador Retriever mix but, to be honest, we just do not know for sure.
The animals in our program come from animal shelters in our community. These animals are sometimes surrendered to the shelter by their owner but more often they are picked up as strays and taken to the animal shelter. When no one claims them they become available for rescues to pull into our program or they go into the animal shelters adoption program. Sometimes the animal shelter works with a prison and some of the dogs go into prison training programs which is pretty neat!
So, often we just do not know a lot of about the back story of why a dog, or most any animal, lands in an animal shelter.
What I can say, is that after doing this for a couple decades I have found 99% of the time it is not the animals fault but the owner of the animal is why the animal lands in an animal shelter. There are times that the animal shelter is life saving to an animal, such as cases of neglect and abuse. We pull several of these animals in to our foster based program and work with them so that they can be place in family homes.
Back to Morgan!
Morgan is all puppy! He is sweet as can be, and like a big stuffed bear.
He has an easy going personality that will lend itself to getting along in just about every situation.
The ideal home would be one with a fenced in yard and people who have the resources to put into socialization and training.
If he get’s as big as we think, his family will want to invest in some dog training.
We have many local dog clubs and training facilities that offer dog training in our community.
Morgan is available for adoption. If you are interested, please fill out an application and email it to us as an attachment. Click here for adoption application
Adoption fee: $300
Leash and Collar or Harness: a Lupine brand harness or collar and leash are provided for each canine. Lupine has a life time guarantee; if chewed, the company will replace it free of charge (thank goodness!).
