Considering a Cockatiel?
Cockatiels are great pet birds! Often referred to as “Tiels” they are cousins to the Cockatoos and the smallest birds belonging to the parrot family. Cockatiels are smart, social parrots that can be taught to do tricks, talk, whistle and even be potty trained. They can live a long happy life of about 15-20 years, like a lot of attention and most love to have their head scratched! The crest on the cockatiel’s head lets you know how they are feeling, changing angles depending on the bird’s mood. They need to be kept busy to be happy which includes interacting with you and having plenty of toys and music. Tiels need about 12-14 hours of sleep day and typically weight between 90 and 150 grams as adults. Happy and sweet birds they bring a lot of joy to those around them.
