Ready to be adopted now.
Date of Birth: August 19, 2015
Weight: 30# on 12/26/16
Good with dogs, cats
Crate trained, working on house training
Sweet, active, smart, attentive
puppy chewing stage in full swing
Yetta is all puppy! And she is fully in that chewing stage. She loves rawhides and toys. She can often be found walking around with a toy hanging out of her mouth. Playing tug with Patience is another favorite activity.
Probably because someone thought it was cute when she was little, Yetta is wanting to chew human hands and will need continued work to not do that anymore. Whoever adopts her needs to be aware that they need to work with her on this.
Yetta is smart, attentive and needy: all great German Shepherd traits.
She needs some self-confidence building which can easily be done with training.
Yetta is a purebred German Shepherd, and from what we can tell, a pretty nice one at that.
She landed in a local animal shelter as a stray and her owner did not come back to claim her.
We do not know why. It happens more than you might realize.
Adopters need to be German Shepherd savvy, have the resources in terms of money and time to engage in dog obedience classes and I would really like to see someone who is interest in competition sports adopt Yetta. She would be great at so many things: obedience, rally, nose work, and some beginning agility would help her learn where her feet are and do much in the self-confidence department.
Once trained, Yetta could be a great Pet Therapy dog and do visits to local facilities.
In terms of training, Yetta is a ‘soft’ dog. She would do best with treat, lure and clicker training.
She enjoys playing with other dogs and has no fear of horses which is kind of scary actually.
She went right into the horse pen and was running. Thankfully our horses are dog savvy and knew Yetta was a ‘dumb’ puppy from their point of view!
Yetta is available for adoption. If you are interested, please fill out an application and email it to us as an attachment. Click here for adoption application
