Ichabod, the Household Helper

Ichabod is about 9 months old, a male DSH black and white kitty.  He has been in foster care for a few months and is really coming into his own.  While he won over his foster parents at first with his loving personality, he had some rough patches to work through.  While very sweet, he got very excited at times and nibbled a bit too hard.  As that bad habit waned, he developed a new habit of launching himself, bodily, at his foster parents, wherever they might be.  This, happily, has also stopped.  Now he is a bit more grown-up and behaves himself.

Ichabod gets along really well with his foster sibling cohort.  They are frequently seen wrestling together and chasing each other around the house.  He is respectful of the adult cats in the house, gentle and kind to the younger kittens, and leaves the dogs alone.  Ichabod loves to be around people most of all.  He is happy to be on your lap when you watch TV, or next to you if your lap is already occupied.  He sleeps with his foster parents in bed at night.

Ichabod has recently been exposed to walking on a harness and leash and does really well!  It is nothing like walking a dog, as you have to follow him where he goes, but some cats won’t even move with a harness on.  Ichabod adjusted quite quickly.

Ichabod is allergic, to what we’re not sure.  He is currently in good shape but should probably stay on a flea preventative year-round and his new parents will need to be aware of any new bumps or itchy spots.

Ichabod has really enjoyed this holiday season.  He helped wrap presents!

He also “helps” his foster mom get ready in the morning by entertaining her in the bathroom and following her devotedly around the house.

Ichabod is extremely outgoing and would do best in a home where people are around frequently to interact with him.  He would do fine with other cats or dogs.  He may be an extremely good companion for teenagers as he is a bit of a teenager himself!

He is sometimes a ham for the camera, too.  You can see that his unique asymmetrical markings make him look, well, a bit odd.  But very endearing!

ichabod-1 Ichabod is available for adoption.  If you are interested, please fill out an application and email it to us as an attachment.

He has been tested for Feline Leukemia and has Revolution put on him once a month.
Adoption fee: $100
DECLAWING: PetsConnect! has moved to a no-declaw policy.  Adopters agree not to declaw the feline they adopt through PetsConnect!.  We support the use of non-surgical interventions such as training, nail trimming, and plastic nail caps (Soft Claws or similar).  Prior to adoption, the adopter may opt to purchase nail caps and PetsConnect! volunteers will apply them for a small additional fee.  Feel free to request a free nail trimming demonstration at time of adoption, as well.  Because our cats live in foster homes, they have an excellent head start in learning how to scratch on acceptable items such as scratch posts and cat furniture, and in becoming acclimated to nail trimming.
