Josie is a sweet heart of a dog. She is mild tempered and pretty
easy going. Other dogs get to be boss, she doesn’t care. But she does love to run and bark and jump and play games of chase with Moxie and Yetta and CiCi too. She has so much fun out in the yard in the snow.
In case you have not noticed, this girl loves snow! She will stay out in the snow for a long time and she loves to bury her nose in the snow too. Not sure what she is looking for.
In the home she is about as close to perfect as a dog can be. She will lay at our feet or even go down to the dining room and curl up on a bed for long naps. She enjoys toys but has not chewed on any furniture or anything. She has not gotten up on any of the chairs but may get up on a couch, I don’t know.
In the house she moves with care and is easy going.
However, when I took her to the vet she was a wild-dog! She wanted to pull me to see other dogs and in general was so excited to meet and greet everyone that all her manners when right out the door. This dog needs lots of work on behaving in public so trips to your local home building stores like Lowells, or Garden Centers, etc and working with her.
Josie’s new owners need to be emotionally, financially and time wise able to participate in a dog obedience class in your area. This will go so far in helping her be a great dog. She has tons of potential to be a pet therapy dog, to do agility, rally, obedience (of course), and maybe nose work. She does enjoy fetching and could be taught to be a retriever so maybe some dock diving too!
She really likes children. In fact, at a recent adoption event she demonstrated her face cleaning skills on one boy! He was lying on the ground and she was just licking his face clean. He was laughing and her tail was wagging.
Josie would do best with a fenced in yard and in cases where there might be small children living in the home a fenced in yard is mandatory. If not a fenced in yard, then she will need dedicated leash walkers.
Just another really nice dog destined to be someone’s heart dog.
