Do you have time for a heart to heart talk? Kodo has a story he wants me to tell you.
Kodo came to us in March of last year. We received a call about a heart worm positive dog at the shelter. Luckily one of our volunteers had room to take Kodo in. Fostering a heart worm positive dog is a longer commitment due to the time and treatment needed.
Kodo came from an environment where he was strictly an outside dog. He had fly bitten ears and marks from his collar being too tight. Once in his foster home he was given much needed TLC and taken in for his heart worm treatment.
During his treatment time he worked on house manners. Trying to potty train an older dog takes a lot of patience and understanding. Kodo also had to have quiet restful time while his body recovered from the treatment. In June he had his final treatment and is now heart worm free! During the last few months his foster family has worked hard to help him become a good house dog. He loves his crate, quiet time, treats ,and does not bark or whine unless he needs to go outside.
Kodo is ready to become someone’s forever friend. He would do best in a home as an only dog or with another small dog or cats (he doesn’t mind them at all). He is good in his crate and would happiest having a lap to snuggle in. Kodo thinks kids are ok too.. In fact he has a favorite young man who comes to adoption events and Kodo demands belly rubs!
Please consider adopting an older dog. Kodo may have a little gray on his muzzle but he will love you with all of his heart .
Kodo is available for adoption. If you are interested, please fill out an application and email it to us as an attachment.
