Scout is an 18 month old male Border Collie mix. He is a nice size weighing in at 36 pounds.
We would guess he has Australian Shepherd too but, of course, we are not sure.
Scout was an owner surrender to a local animal shelter because the owners did not have enough time for a pet.
Scout is completely house trained and exceptionally well mannered in the home.
As far as crate training, he is ok in a crate but I would not leave this dog in a crate for more than a couple hours a day.
Border Collies just do not do well crated for long periods.
Scout knows his basic commands and we are working on recall. For now, he needs to be on a leash or in a fenced in
yard as he does not always come when called. We are doing some long leash training with him but, of course, whoever
adopts him will need to continue with obedience and perhaps some agility training.
Scout does very well with other dogs and has been ok with cats. He may chase cats.
He is very Border Collie like in that he has some strong herding instincts which can be interpreted into nipping when
living things won’t herd up for him.
Scout does exceptionally well with the other Border Collie in the foster home. It’s like they are trying to herd together.
Not like the other animals enjoy this but it’s fun to watch.
Scout will be a most excellent dog for the right person!
Great dog. Just know your Border Collies.
Scout is available for adoption. If you are interested, please fill out an application and email it to us as an attachment.
