Manny is a diamond in the rough!
He is a seven month exuberant male lab puppy.
He is bouncy and eager to greet everyone with exuberance and joy as if he is the very thing we have all been waiting to greet with open arms!
Manny is a character.
Manny has lots to learn: manners with people, doggy-social manners, how to behave in the home (jumping up on the couch so it bounces is not ok), and house training too though he is getting better.
He is an adolescent male lab puppy so exuberance, and embracing live with zest is to be expected.
Fenced in yard is surely needed, so is a ball and someone to play fetch with him, a crate for him to be when not being supervised, and an owner who embraces life with the same energy and is willing to participate in doggy training classes.
So, put in the time, the energy and Manny will be that companion pet you have dreamed of owning!
Meanwhile, well, excuse him when he jumps up on you to say HI!
Manny came into our care as an emergency case. Here is his story:
While at the animal shelter he shared a kennel with another female dog.
It is a good sized kennel with inside and outside runs. Lots of room for the two dogs to share which they did well for about a week.
Then, we suspect Manny’s exuberance was a bit to much for the other dog. She attacked him. Unfortunately, she didn’t stop.
The shelter employees heard Manny’s ‘screams’ and ran to his aid. He sat scrunched up in a corner just screaming while the other dog pounded him.
The other dog had to be pulled off but by then enough damage had been done that Manny clearly needed vet attention and home care.
We were glad to be of help.
A volunteer drove over to pick him up within the hour and took him directly to our vet. His ear was ripped at the end and bled and bled, but as it turned out, the worse damage happened when the other dog had bit his one foot so hard that a toe bone was broken – ouch! But other than some other puncture wounds, that was all, enough surely, but it could have been worse.
Clearly, Manny did not deserve to be attacked, however, his doggy manners leave much to be desired and we are working with him on that.
Manny is on crate rest while his toe heals. He is not very good about crate rest but really loves his rawhides, chewies, bones and Kong toys.
Manny is available for adoption and will be a great dog! He loves other dogs, is a bit too much for any cats in his foster home and would be a bit much for wee human beings.
But for young adults, teen age boys, this dog is perfect!
Manny is available for adoption. If you are interested, please fill out an application and email it to us as an attachment. Click here for adoption application
