Blue is blue.
It can be confusing but Blue is a Chihuahua who is also the color blue!
Being blue means his hair is on the thin side but he is looking really good!
Blue also has white markings and he is on the smaller side, or should be if he were at his proper weight. Our vet says he should weigh about 5 to 6 pounds.
When he first entered our program back in the fall of 2011, he weighed 5.5 pounds. He was returned July of 2013 weighing in at a whopping 7.90 pounds.
I’m pleased to say he is loosing some weight because on August 13, 2013 he was down to 7.2. So, we are getting there. He is on a low calorie hard food but as long he keeps moving we are letting him have a bit of canned food with his dry food. He loves to eat! In fact, the only bad thing about this little dog is that he does not like sharing his food with other dogs so he has his own private eating chambers, his dog crate. He is fine with people, guess he knows we don’t want his food.
When Blue first came to us two years ago, he came from a local animal shelter where he had been surrendered by his owner. At that time he did have some severe hair loss. He was not at the shelter long as we picked him up just a couple days later.
A month later he was adopted by a couple who love chichi’s. His hair grew back and he was a pretty happy camper. They had to move to an apartment and could not take Blue with them to their new place. They had adopted Mikayla too and she too was returned to our program.
Blue was born October 2006. He is great with other dogs as well as cats. He is what I call an easy keeper because it is so easy to take care of him. He is house trained as well as crate trained. He stays with us out in the yard. He would do well with a little doggy door.
He has done really well with the children at adoption events and who have visited but I am not sure ho
w he would do living with small children all the time.
He should do fine with older children, teens, adults or an older person or couple.
He has a lot of character and is a fun little dog.
He will have had a dental by time he is adopted.
Blue is available for adoption. If you are interested, please fill out an application and email it to us as an attachment.
Medical: He is neutered, micro chipped, wormed, and up to date on shots.
Microchip: Included in the adoption is the registration of the AVID micro chip in the new owner’s name.
Adoption fee: $225
Leash and Collar or Harness: a Lupine brand harness or collar and leash are provided for each canine. Lupine has a life time guarantee; if chewed, the company will replace it free of charge.
